Behind the Scenes with Eugene Levy & Michael Buble on The Reluctant Traveler

When Hollywood Came Fishing

When a British production crew called about filming a Canadian story for an international travel series, we didn’t think much of it. They wanted something that captured the heart and humour of Canada.

So, we took them up Indian Arm—a stunning fjord just outside Vancouver—to show how we harvest wild BC Dungeness crab. A few weeks later, the call came back: it was for The Reluctant Traveler, hosted by Eugene Levy for Apple TV+.

This episode would bring Eugene home to Canada for the Season 3 finale, following stops that included a private tour of Windsor Castle with Prince William.

When the production team returned, they had one more surprise: Eugene wouldn’t be fishing alone. His guest? None other than Michael Bublé, another proud British Columbian.

A West Coast Morning with Eugene and Michael

We set crab traps in a quiet bay up Indian Arm, then took Eugene and Michael out to see who could haul in the biggest catch. It was meant to be a bit of fun—but what unfolded was genuine magic.

Michael, the son of a commercial fisherman, instantly felt at home. No scripts or coaching, just instinct and experience. Watching him explain to Eugene how to size a legal crab was one of those moments that remind you why we love what we do.

Both were humble, curious, and hilarious in equal measure. Between hauls, we shared stories, swapped jokes, and laughed until the cameras stopped rolling.

Before they left, we told Michael there’d always be a spot on our boat if he ever needed a break from the stage.

More Than a Day on Camera

For us, the experience went far beyond filming a TV segment. It was a celebration of West Coast life—good people, honest work, and sustainable seafood shared with friends.

You can watch The Reluctant Traveler Season 3 finale on Apple TV+, then taste the same wild BC Dungeness crab Eugene and Michael helped haul aboard.
