How To Cook Arctic Char

Think of Arctic char as the bridge between salmon’s richness and trout’s delicacy. Its high fat content makes it especially forgiving—less prone to drying out and more likely to stay tender and juicy, even with high heat. 

For the perfect sear, cook it skin-side down in a hot pan until the skin is crisp and the flesh is mostly opaque—then finish with a quick flip. Prefer a gentler approach? Roast it low and slow to preserve its silky texture, or poach it gently for a clean, pure flavour. 

Arctic char also grills beautifully and is ideal for cedar plank cooking, where its subtle sweetness and buttery finish take centre stage. Whether you’re going simple or sophisticated, it adapts with ease—making every meal feel quietly elevated.
